Vintage Pendant Charm Trinacria Mid-Century 22k Yellow Gold

This three legged charm from the Mid Century Era is a symbol from Sicily. The bent running legs represent the Trinacria, from the Greek name of Sicily meaning “three promontories”: Cape Pachino to the South, Cape Peloro to the East and Cape Lilibeo to the West. The head represnts Medusa, with her snake haired head and golden wings, as well as Athena, the Patron Goddess of Sicily. Cast in 22 karat gold, this charm is quite rare.
