About

By Filigree Jewelry

Q: What is the By Filigree collection?

By Filigree is our in-house line built from decades of buying, selling, and restoring vintage and estate jewelry. We hand-select antique-cut diamonds and colored gemstones from pieces that come through the shop, repurpose the metals, and apply everything we've learned about design and construction to new work. Every piece is one of one.

Q: How are By Filigree pieces designed and built?

We repurpose materials from antique pieces that have lived their full life, then build new work using construction details that most production jewelry skips. Hand engraving is cut into the metal with a graver, not etched by laser, and settings are shaped to follow the contour of a specific stone rather than a standard template.

Q: How does By Filigree select diamonds and gemstones?

Every diamond comes from existing jewelry. The inventory spans Old European Cuts, Old Mine Cuts, rose cuts, and round brilliants from estate pieces. Which stone goes in which setting is a specific call we make based on how a cut behaves in a particular design. Colored gemstones (sapphires, rubies, emeralds, aquamarine) are hand-selected to match the scale and feel of each piece.

Q: What types of jewelry does the By Filigree collection include?

The line covers diamond tennis bracelets and tennis necklaces, earrings from everyday studs to statement drops, cocktail rings with antique-cut and colored gemstone centers, and pendants and necklaces. By Filigree engagement rings are in their own collection.

Q: Can By Filigree pieces be customized?

Yes. Any piece can be customized or replicated to your specifications, but the line is designed to stand on its own. These are finished pieces, not starting points for a custom project.
