This week we have a very cool group that all have a dark look created with either oxidized silver or rhodium plating. Black metal can be achieved in a number of ways and this list contains pieces that use rhodium plating on white gold as well as oxidized silver. Oxidized silver isn’t actually “oxidized” but is sterling silver which has had sulfides added to speed up the natural tarnishing process. If you’re into beautiful things that have a little darkness, this is the list for you!
The first piece on the list is an amazing diamond ring that is white gold with rhodium plating. The brooding gray center diamond fits so perfectly with the dark metal setting. The split shank with notched edges and accent diamonds also make this a very beautiful dark ring.
This pearl and diamond cocktail ring really uses the white of the Keshi pearls as its main color, but the contrast against the oxidized silver add a fantastic dimension. The pearls are set to resemble flower petals and the silver and diamonds are layered in the center to continue this same design.
This stylish bangle combines a clean matte look of oxidized silver with a somewhat chaotic look of multiple cuts of diamonds bezel set around it. The contrast of colors between the white and the black, and the clever touch of the yellow gold safety and closure button give this piece a very interesting feel.
This is a wonderful example of a dark diamond band. Quite a simple design with shared bead settings and a smart use of black rhodium holding black diamonds give this an amazing look!
Another great use of black and white contrast is shown in these fabulous star shaped earrings. The dark patina of on the silver leaves a great looking trail down the sides of the starburst. This is a fabulous pair that would go perfectly with so many of the dark rings and necklaces in this list!
This amazing diamond and pearl Victorian necklace has such a wonderful aura! It is unmistakably Victorian in the very best way, with a gorgeous patina darkening the silver and gold. This would be a piece that you take out on the most special occasions to make them even more special!
These beautiful stud earrings feature a lovely group of concentric circles made from round brilliant cut diamonds. The dark chocolaty diamonds are placed in a shared bead setting done in oxidized silver which really accentuates the dark look.
Such an interesting look from these diamond earrings in oxidized silver! The dark color palette does so much for the large teardrop shape. There is movement at the hinge and a bit at the post, but overall the design is quite rigid. These are a great compromise between a classic look a unique variance!
9. Antique Earrings Victorian/Art Nouveau .65 Old European Cut Diamonds in 18k Rose Gold & Sterling Silver
These fantastic earrings come from a transitional period with hints at design from both Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Regardless of their designation, they make gorgeous use of the Old European cut diamonds which are channel set inside an amazing design that is reminiscent of a clef on a sheet of music.
This wonderful diamond ring features a mystical gray rose cut diamond that is set with massive prongs and wreathed in a glorious border of bright white round brilliant diamonds. The outer edge also features delightful milgrain detail which adds even more to the amazing and dramatic look of this black rhodium plated ring.
